Step-by-step Instructions

1. You need to have a Yahoo ID.
To obtain a Yahoo ID [and link your email address to it], go to; http://groups.yahoo.com/memwiz
Follow the directions and choose an easily remembered Yahoo ID and Password.
You will need this each time you sign in at the website.
*you already have a Yahoo ID if you have any email address with @yahoo.com – you can sign in using the yahoo email address as an ID but you do not have to use the yahoo email address to receive listserv emails.

2. on this page, click "JOIN THIS GROUP"
(at Yahoogroups http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VermontFamilyNetwork/)
SIGN in, using your Yahoo ID and password from step #1,
If you don't sign in, you can see the page but nothing is "clickable" as you are not recognized as a member yet.

3. Complete the form to 'request the membership'.
When you do so you will set up your options including choosing which email address to receive listserv messages.
(yahoo will do a confirmation message that you will have to reply to)

Optional Info:

Calendar, new & former messages etc. can be viewed on the group's site.

Before you unsubscribe please consider: VermontFamilyNetwork is primarily an email-based discussion list. But you may choose to read the messages that are posted to the list on the website rather than in your email box by following the directions on ‘changing your delivery options’ below. However, you may still receive list related emails in your inbox -- either from the list owner regarding your membership, and/or private replies from members related to your posts to the lists. This is simply part of being a member of an email-based discussion list.

To change your delivery options: The words "edit membership" are above the green bar at the top. Click on it and you can set your own delivery options to whatever you choose. Be sure to click on "Save Changes” when you are done or the change won't take effect.
You can also unsubscribe from the group in this screen by choosing "leave group”, and then clicking "Save changes". Please do not send these types of requests to the list. If you have trouble, please send your detailed explanation of the trouble you are having to vermontfamilynetwork-owner@yahoogroups.com.

if you chose to "add a new email address", yahoo has to verify the address; this screen will pop up:

go into your email and read the automated message and click the sentence that says "Important!":

you can then resume "Joining" the listserv

If you went to the site and can't see messages etc., did you sign in? (you also have to be a member)

To edit your membership or change your email address:

after you sign in
by clicking on "sign in"
(you will be asked for your yahoo username and password- even if your email address is not a yahoo one)

click on Edit Membership
then under Email Address subhead (see screenshot),
click on "add new email address"

What is a listserv?

It's an email list program for communicating with all the people who have subscribed to the same list.
When you submit your email to "the server", your message is relayed to everyone on the listserv.
You receive messages from other participants (and Vermont Family Network) via your email.

Subscribe to the Vermont Family Network's Listserv if you want to receive information about:

Special Opportunities: Such as donated or reduced-priced tickets to local events (including Movies!).

Policy: Alerts such as “We are looking for [insert your family story here] to help us challenge this policy!”...

Information: Special documentaries of interest or other time-sensitive opportunities.

VFN Events/Website: SibShop, Supporting Parent training reminders, Partners In Care Conference information...
Reminders to view this website for new features/additions or links to other events or conferences...

Subscribe: Click here for link to subscribe via email request OR Link directly to the group's site where you can read and send messages from there after clicking "Join This Group!" button.
