Dear Parents, Family Members, and Guardians,
Please watch your mailbox for a VERY IMPORTANT SURVEY from the Vermont Department of Education (VTDOE)! Each year the VTDOE sends a survey to families whose children are receiving special education services.
Last year only 13.6% of families responded to this survey. That means that the voices of many families of children with special needs in Vermont were not heard. It is our goal to increase the number of families who respond to this survey. This information is critical. These survey results are reported back to the Federal Government each year so that they can see how Vermont Schools are engaging and involving families . If only a handful of families return the survey this is a huge missed opportunity. This feedback is taken very seriously. PLEASE take a few moments, fill it out and sent it in.
Details About the Survey:
The survey should arrive within the next week and will arrive in a window-style envelope. You will be able to see the Vermont Department of Education logo in the window:
along with your name and address.
After you have completed the survey, you may place it in the enclosed pre-paid envelope and drop it in the mail. You will notice the return envelope is addressed to an out-of-state survey provider. Vermont Department of Education uses this provider to help them efficiently and accurately administer the survey.
If you have any questions or need help filling out the survey please call Vermont Family Network and we are happy to assist you. 1-800-800-4005
Your responses to the survey will let the Vermont Department of Education know how you feel about the school’s efforts to create meaningful partnerships with you and how you believe they can better meet your child’s special needs. If you have more than one child receiving special education services in your household, you will receive a survey for each of those children.
